Common Mistakes in Pregnancy Women Often Neglect

Pregnancy is a roller-coaster ride for every woman. With the announcement of a pregnancy, also comes lots of do’s and don’ts from various people around you which makes the woman quite confused for what to follow and what not to. In the course of providing best to her unborn, there are few mistakes that a woman tends to make in her pregnancy.

Self-Medication

Taking any medicine on your own is a big no no in pregnancy. Avoid taking any kind of paracetamol, antiacids or painkiller without consulting your doctor. If you also feel that the medicines that are prescribed by your doctor are not suiting you, then do not go for any alternate your own, rather get an alternate medicine properly prescribed.

Doing no exercise at all

Start preparing your body for the pregnancy right from the beginning. Doing no exercise at all will make your body less flexible and will only add complications to your pregnancy. It is always advisable to do only mild exercises instead of taking up any harsh or challenging ones.

Oversleep/Lack of sleep-

A pregnant woman needs to have adequate rest as her body will feel extremely tired because of the growing new life inside. However, having oversleep will also be a problem as it can create issues post delivery as your body had got used to having so much sleep and will urge to sleep more.

Taking excessive food intake-

Once you get pregnant, you are always told that now you have to eat for two as your body is carrying a new life in it. However, you need not to start eating double of what you are eating already. You only require taking 300 additional calories from your normal calorie intake to prepare your body for the changes and support the baby. Gaining excessive weight will create only complexities for you and your baby.

 Not talking to your baby-bump-

Talking to your bump actually strengthens your bond with your child and you can feel his sensations also. Talk to your baby regularly by putting hand on your belly and gently caressing it.

Avoiding the food you are craving for-

It’s good if you are avoiding your favourite sugary treat to stay away from gestational diabetes, but stressing yourself too much for the sugary item you are craving for will only increase your anxiety levels, which may not be beneficial for your baby.
