OVULATION INDUCTION TREATMENT FOR UNEXPLAINED INFERTILITY

It might be possible that even with normal ovulation, women will not be able to conceive and hence they are recommended Ovulation Induction Treatment. Ovulation induction is a hormonal therapy that stimulates the development and releasing of eggs to increase the chances to conceive for women who face fertility issues. This medication was developed to help women who would not be ovulating by themselves and experiencing irregular menstrual cycles. The other purpose of Ovulation induction treatment is to boost the transmission of more eggs reaching maturity in a single ovulation cycle. The overall aim of ovulation induction is to increase the formation of healthy eggs in women.

Fertility drugs that is being used in Ovulation Induction Treatment are as follows:

Clomiphene Citrate (Seraphene and Clomid) – It is an oral medication that stimulates ovulation by blocking estrogen receptors which makes your body feel that estrogen levels are low and hence facilitate the production of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) which increase the production and releasing of multiple eggs in the menstrual cycle and enhance the fertility.

Human Menopausal Gonadotropin (Pergonal, Humegon, and Repronex) – Gonadotropin drugs are composed of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and leutinizing hormone (LH) that stimulate egg development in women who experience irregular ovulation. This medication is used in IUI treatment and in IVF treatment as well. Gonadotropin is considered a strong superovulation agent as compared to oral medication for unexplained fertility.

Leuprolide (Lupron) and Synthetic Gonadotropin (FSH/LH) – Lupron represses the brain’s secretion of leutinizing hormones and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and therefore it is used in medication for ovulation induction drugs. Luprons facilitates the response of ovaries with recruitment of multiple follicles and also prevents premature ovulation by preventing LH release.

Follistim/Gonal-F, Bravelle – Follicle Stimulating Hormone medication is used to boost the recruitment and production of multiple eggs during the ovulation induction cycle. This medication can be used alone or combining with gonadotropic for superovulation. It comes only in injectable form. To ensure and maximize the effectiveness of Lupron treatment, ultrasound is done prior to the ovarian stimulation and for that blood estrogen level test might be required.

Since the condition of every patient differs and therefore there is no fixed dosage recommended. Each patient must be diagnosed thoroughly through examining ultrasounds, blood estrogen levels to analyses ovary response. Examining thoroughly minimize the risk factors and complications due to the usage of medication while treatment.
