IVF (In-Vitro Fertilization) is a highly specialized technique that involves the facilitated fertilization of a female egg with a male sperm outside the female body, under the controlled laboratory conditions to produce embryo(s).
Two to four embryos are transferred into the uterus of the female at one time, for its implantation and natural growth & development. This constitutes one cycle of IVF.
This one cycle of IVF cost in India is Rs. 1,50,000- 2,50,000 and can approximate around Rs. 2,00,000 depending upon your fertility levels and your medical history. Practically, in most cases, it needs more than one cycle to conceive a pregnancy.
Intial Consultation | IVF/ICSI | Medications & Ultrasound | Blood Tests | IVF Less than 60,000 |
INR 500 – 1000 | INR 80,000 – 1,00,000 | INR 60,000 – 80,000 | INR 20,000 – 25,000 | The Patient is Obliged to pay additional costs |
The couples who could not conceive successfully even after 3-4 IVF cycles, due to restraining health factors, may need to opt for ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) technique.
ICSI is an even more sophisticated technique wherein a single sperm is directly injected into an egg to drastically increase the success rate of fertilization and pregnancy. This is an additional process and costs Rs. 1,50,000 –Rs. 2,50,000 extra per IVF cycle.
Transferring the Frozen embryos from the previous IVF cycle(s), rather than using the fresh embryos, may bring this cost down.
Couples with extremely-low sperm production or those who have had their vasectomy done can require sperm extraction procedure TESA (Testicular Sperm Aspiration). It costs Rs 12,000- Rs. 18,000.
Donor sperms or eggs or both may be required in case of the couples having genetic diseases or low-quality sperms or low fertility levels.
Donor sperms for IVF treatment cost Rs. 10,000- Rs. 15,000 whereas Donor eggs cost Rs. 30,000- Rs. 45,000.
IVF is useful in couples;
- unable to conceive due to damaged or blocked fallopian tube
- having endometriosis, ovulation disorders, uterine fibroids, genetic disorders, and unexplained infertility
- over 35-40 years of age and couldn’t conceive through sexual intercourse
- with low sperm production or low quality of sperm
